Had to have an endoscopy to check the status of the esophageal varices ligated on the 19th. All seems good. I'is likely that blood pressure will create new varices so he should rest. In this situation it is not recommended to increase albumine as it can increase blood pressure. However albumine would be needed if they decide to do a paracentesis tomorrow to remove some liquids. He is really suffering from ascites. He has tried to eat some rice soup today but it didn't go wel. Creatinine at 0.95...

Today no blood tests, he seems stable. The kidneys have recovered well. Now he is allowed to drink 1 litre a day, with water, juice or tomato juice. Unfortunately, some scabs are appearing due to the long period in bed. The doctors say that he can not yet sustain the trip; he must first be able to recover his strength. If everything goes well, the trip to USA will be planned during the second week of February.
Meanwhile, the family is in touch with a travel agency specialized in...

They allowed him to drink a bit more of water, and he is able to urinate, which is a good sign. He was able to stand up and walk a few steps with nurse's support. The belly is still very big, with the belly button pushed outwards. The doctors still have not decided when he would be able to travel.

Taro is now stable but critical. Due to esophageal emorragies he cannot eat or drink, so he depends on the drip. Very weak, he cannot move from bed. The American surgeon and the Japanese MD are now discussing his latest status to decide how to organise the journey. We will need to wire $400,000 before the trip, in order to get urgent Visa B-2 for medical reasons.
